Light Up the Night

Please join us for an evening to kick off Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Kaua'i Mental Health Advocates is on a mission to destigmatize mental health by offering direct services to the community free of cost. Together with Ocean Course at Hōkūala, KMHA is hosting a Rockin' Range to fund clinical services and critical suicide-prevention workshops to combat the losses by suicide in our community.

Join us for a night of friendly competition among community members for a worthy cause. Think Glow Golf meets Topgolf...island style!

Included with your ticket price is live entertainment, food trucks, mental health resources, and THE most sought-after pau hana driving range experience on island! One drink ticket per player is included with the purchase of a stall, with Hōkūala's best tending bar all evening.

Community Conversation - Holding Space for Maui

KMHA is dedicated to directing our energy and efforts to providing support in the best way we know how. As first and foremost, advocates for the community, our hearts are very heavy as we navigate the need for mental health services during this trying time. We have received requests for services here on Kaua'i as our own community members grapple to make sense of the largest tragedy in our state's history. As a result, we have decided to host a Community Conversation ahead of our Light Up the Night Suicide Prevention Awareness event 9/1. Please join us as we navigate this together.

Connecting with Well Being

Connecting with Well Being

During the pandemic we were reminded of how important wellbeing is to resilience.  At some point, most of us determined we would focus more on our wellbeing than we have in the past – rest more, take care of our body, minds and souls.  But did we really commit to it or was it just a passing thought?  If you’re like us, you might feel like you have so much on your plate, it’s hard to find time to participate in a wellbeing webinar series.  But when you really think about it, wellbeing is what allows us to manage what’s on our plate without feeling so overwhelmed and stressed out.  Let’s make time for wellbeing together!  Join us on June 26 and July 10.

Overcoming Awkwardness: Talking to Youth About Sex in the Internet Age

The clinical team at EHFGC is offering a caregiver workshop to take place on Zoom. It will be offered twice in the same week so attendees can choose a morning or evening time.

This workshop was developed after receiving feedback from care teams that families would benefit from psychoeducation around how to communicate with kids about sex, pornography, and masturbation. We'll be addressing these challenging issues with psychoeducation as well as with practical suggestions to support healthy sexual development and overall wellbeing.

Overcoming Awkwardness: Talking to Youth About Sex in the Internet Age

Attendees will learn about:

  • typical sexual development in youth (what you can expect to see across different ages)

  • less typical behaviors (to watch out for, what might be concerning)

  • effects of technology & pornography (on young minds & on their attitudes about sexual health)

  • simple tools for caregivers to support youth (why you should to talk to them and tips on how to do it)
